Digital soundscape – duration 3 hours, 35mm photographic images
An ongoing audio archive, recording island tours by taxi drivers
across the Anglophone Caribbean. This archive serves a resource to explore the
language of contemporary and historical information tailored for the tourist
and voyeur. It also serves to reveal the unique relationship that evolves between
the taxi driver and the passenger.
The first audio archive in this series was produced in Tobago in February 2007,
and currently exists as a temporary site-based soundscape in the taxi in which
it was recorded.
Island Tour will continue in 2008, with new recordings planned in Barbados,
Trinidad and Tobago.
